Name: 11th Annual Flock to the Rock
    Date: September 14, 2019
    Time: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM EDT
    Event Description:
Birdwatchers of all levels will enjoy visiting Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park on Saturday, September 14, during the Park’s 11th Annual Flock to the Rock event. Not only can Park guests enjoy some of the best scenic views in western North Carolina, but they can also take part in a variety of birding activities where they can learn about the wide variety of our feathered friends found in this region. The event starts at 11am and will include live bird demonstrations and kid’s educational activities, such as making bird crafts and dissecting owl pellets to learn about their diets. Chimney Rock is an official site on the N.C. Birding Trail, so be sure to bring your camera and/or binoculars and search for birds on our six different hiking trails. “Chimney Rock is one of the most spectacular locations in Western North Carolina to spot a wide range of birds throughout the year, from countless warblers and vireos to tanagers and birds of prey. Flock to the Rock is held during the peak of fall migration and draws enthusiastic birders of all levels to the Park,” said Emily Walker, Chimney Rock Management, LLC Naturalist and Education Manager. Flock to the Rock is included with paid Park admission, which is $17 for adults, $8 for youth (ages 5-15) and free for kids 4 years and under.
