    Event Description:
    The Rumbling Bald Competition was established in 2014 by the Triple Crown Bouldering Series.  This competition proved to be a HUGE success and the Triple Crown has since passed the competition off to the CCC as a fundraiser for the Carolina Climbers Coalition, in support of Chimney Rock State Park and the Town of Lake Lure.  The comp has historically brought over 500 people to the quaint town of Lake Lure and left a positive lasting impression on local business and citizens.  The Rumbling Bald Competition was among one of the favorite climbing events in recent years and speculation of its return has been buzzing ever since!

    Friday 3/4:

    • 12:00 PM: Online Registration closes.
    • 5:00 PM: In-person registration and check in begins at the Lake Lure Town Hall, right next to Morse Park. Camping is available at Morse Park. Camping is free for registrants, volunteers, and sponsors.  Vendor set up will begin at 5:00 PM.

    Saturday 3/5: 

    • 7:30 AM: Check in and in person registration opens in the Lake Lure Town Hall, next to Morse Park.
    • 8:00 AM: Shuttles will lead from Morse Park to Rumbling Bald. Registrants or spectators cannot park at Rumbling Bald. They must take the shuttle buses.
    • 9:45 AM: Safety briefing in the Rumbling Bald parking lot.
    • 10:00 AM: RUMBLE BEGINS! 
    • 4:30 PM: All score cards must be turned into the boxes in the parking lot. Score cards will not be accepted after 4:30PM. 
    • 5:00 PM: After party at Morse Park with sponsors, food, free high fives to CCC members and supporters. CCC membership drive. 
    • 6:00 PM: Dinner served for $10 in Morse Park. Please bring cash.
    • 8:30 PM: Scores announced, winner swag give away

    Sunday 3/6: 

    • 8:30 AM: Morse Park Clean Up
    • 10:00 AM: Rumbling Bald Stewardship Day: Meet in the Rumbling Bald Parking lot. Bring your favorite trail tool or one will be provided. Note: Because we believe a good climber is not just someone who climbs V12, but commits to supporting access and stewardship, bonus points are given to competitors for those attending the stewardship day. 
    • 2:00 PM: Stewardship day is done.
