Brave souls take the plunge at the annual New Year's Day Polar Plunge at Lake Lure BeachEvent Description:The Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge announces its 6th Annual Lake Lure New Year’s Day Polar Plunge in Lake Lure, North Carolina.The event will take place January 1, 2014 at the Lake Lure Beach, 2774 Memorial Highway, Lake Lure, North Carolina. Registration will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A Registration Fee of $20 includes a Polar Plunge Toboggan. Remaining Toboggans may be purchased for $25 following the event.The Plunge will be at noon. Judges for the Best Costume will be judged by the Town of Lake Lure Mayor Bob Keith and a guest judge.Other prizes for the oldest and youngest plunger, as well as who traveled the farthest, will be awarded.Proceeds from this event will benefit The Chamber of Hickory Nut Gorge.
